Flushing International High School
For this project, students combine images culled from their dreams, memories,
and physical body to create a Surrealist collage in the form of a CD case cover. The
various elements are drawn, photographed, and appropriated from the Internet, and
then layered and manipulated in Photoshop.
The goal of the project is to teach students:
1) the history and processes of the Surrealist movement;
2) intermediate skills in Photoshop, and
3) to use their own lives and imaginations to create abstract expressions of
In addition, students write reflective essays about their process and final product.
Work is exhibited both inside and outside of the school.
